The Oregon Education Technology Standards
Creativity and Innovation
Communication and Collaboration
Research and Information Fluency
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making
Digital Citzenship
Technology Operations and Concepts
Here are some ways I came apply these standard to my future lesson plans,
For communication and collaboration I can use blogs where students can read and post assignments, questions, and information. The students then can collaborate by leaving comments on each others blogs. Also for communication and collaboration students can use skype which is a way students can talk to each other in real time.
Students can show creativity and innovation by using TokBox to make presentation to show the class. Also students can share ideas on their blogs.
Technology Operations and Concepts: Google Docs can be use for a variety of reasons. It can be used for students to have e-mail addresses for communication purposes. Students can use Google Docs for assignments for the use of graphs and google sheets. There is also a lot of gadgets on google docs that can help with assignments, labs, and experiments.
Research and Information Fluency- I can also create a web site for my class where I have the syllabus, lesson plans and assignment, but it also has places and good sites to go to to find reliable information for research projects.
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making-In class we can use yodio to have a quick collaboration of words or phrases where students can listen to and write down their reactions for this. For example in a health class each student can say a word of what they feel when they hear the word bullying. When everyone in class said their word in yodio it can be played back and the whole class can listen to and react to what they hear.
Digital Citizenship- I will make sure that the class knows the class rules that revolve around respect on what they write about. How they react to each others statement and comments. Also I will tell the student that there are sites like
Turnitin.com where I can put in their work and it will tell me if it is plagiarized or not. I will make a statement that explain and shows the students why they should now plagiarize.

Ed Tech TokBov
Here is my TokBox presentation. We used the TokBox to recored out TokBox presentation. We talked about how to use Tokbox and ways to use TokBox inside and outside of class. We showed what the main screen page looks like. We also talked about some things that Tokbox is like, for example people can video chat like Skype but it can also record like video camera and be sent to people.

Google docs spread sheet
The data shows that even though the students scored below average on their test, their scores increased from test 6 to test 10. This means that every test they increased their score and did better from one test to the next.
This can help me in the future by showing me that even though the students are scoring below average they are improving. This can be difficult to see by just looking at their test score. This spread sheet allows to input multiple scores to see how they are doing throughout the term and not just for that test.
I will can use this in the future when entering data on grades and tests but also I can enter the data to show the class what different people got for part of an assignment. For example, when recording information for genetics and what characteristic each of the students have. Then I can show it on the a graph for the students to see what is dominate and recessive.
Here is my score sheets:

Students
Students
There are 38 students in the physical education class that I am going to teach. Out of the 38 students one student is Asian, one student is Indian and three are Hispanic. That means out of 38 students 33 are white.
In the physical education class I am teaching, the students tend to group boys with boys and girls with girls. Occasionally there will be a mixture of boys and girls. When the groups get together usually they are the same students grouping together. This makes me aware that there are a lot of cliques in my class. Rarely when students pick groups do they go with anyone else then who they usually group with. In physical education there are times where students are getting too competitive and they start to say mean things and are not nice to each other.
When I teach I will not allow any disrespectful comments or attitudes towards one another. I want to start the class by doing cooperative games where the students get to know each other. By doing cooperative games it allows the students to work together to reach a goal. During the cooperative games I am going to reinforce that no negative comments are made and that in this class we help each other and encourage each other. I will also try and do activities where the students have to work with other people by either assigning teams before class or splitting the students up during class. I want my students to feel comfortable playing with anyone, that way they can focus more or the activity and worry less about who is on their team.
Since the class is mostly white I will watch for students who leave out or exclude any of the different ethnic students. If this happens I will make sure to group the students myself. I will not tolerate anyone who purposely excludes others no matter what their ethnic background is. I want to make sure people feel comfortable and safe and allowing students to exclude others does not help the students feel like they are in a safe place. If there is anyone who might not want one of the different ethnic students in their group I will make it clear to them it is not allowed in my classroom. By not allowing the segregation it will open their eyes and minds to accepting them and hopefully they will get to know one another in the process.

Skpye
This was my first time learning about Skype. I didn't know this type of program existed out there. I really like how it people can talk over their computers and there is no need for a phone to connect. I also like how there is a place where students can just talk to one another. In the future I can use this for the students if they had questions they can either get onto skype and ask their classmates or even I can communicate with them to explain an assignment or any confusion they had in class.

Ed Tech: My Favorite Web2.0 tools
Web 2.0 is defined by “a web-based platform for applications and services” This means that all my files I can access anywhere, anytime’s on any computer. It surprises be how fast the computer world is advancing. I remember days that if something happened to your computer or file is was gone and there was nothing you can do about it. I think this will be beneficial to be because I won’t have to worry about hauling my laptop around or losing important information or backing up everything I have. This will create a lot less stress of the worrying of the malfunction of the computer and all your hard work vanishing into thin air. This will be very useful in my future teaching career.
A web based tool I will probably use in the future is Google Docs. This will allow me to create a website for my students and parents and a way to keep an open communication line and a helpful tool for questions. This can also help the student catch up quicker if they miss a class. I also would incorporate blogger into my classroom. I can post assignments and have my class turn it in online and have class discussions through blogger. Blogger also opens up the line of communication between students where they can comment on each other blogs and get to know each other.

Description of the classroom
There are three gyms at Whiteaker Middle School. In the two lower gyms the flooring is wood and the walls are painted two shades of blue with a line of orange between the two colors. The colors represent the school colors. There isn’t a lot on the walls besides a few posters of different muscles and the six week grades posted. The uppers gym’s floor is wood as well. In one corner of the room there is a rock wall and in another corner is some gymnastics equipment. On one side of the gym there is cardio and muscular strength machines.
There are three teachers that teach in one school period and each teacher has a gym. There is one storage room down stairs and one storage room upstairs for equipment. One of the lower gyms is a lot bigger than the other lower gym. The larger gym contains bleachers and that is parents and spectator sit during school games. There is a boy’s locker room and a girl’s locker room off of the largest gym. When the students enter the large gym from the locker room they start to walk around the gym counter clockwise. When the P.E. teachers come out they have the students sit in their roll spots where each student sits in a row of six. This is done alphabetically so when taking roll the teacher just look for the missing holes of the rows.
The atmosphere of the gym is at time loud but the students look like they are enjoying their self’s and enjoying the social aspect of physical education. Most of the time everyone participates in the activities and they look like they are having fun doing it. This makes me excited to teach physical education at this grade level because most of the students still enjoy physical education. I think this is the perfect age to teach the students about the benefits of exercising while they still enjoy it. I feel that it is crucial to start the education of physical activity, health, and fitness at an age when the students are still enjoying physical education. This is also a good age to have the students try knew activities before the students get too influenced by feeling stupid or dump about trying a new activity. Games that would be good to start is cooperating games where the point of the games are to get to know each other, working together, problem-solving and supporting each other.

Description of the School Population
The demographics of Whiteaker Middle School in 2006-2007 are as follows. There were 38 teachers and 791 students. That’s a ratio of 21 students per teacher. There are around 250 students per grades, which range from 6th-8th grade. The ethnic groups are 75.5% white, 10.4% Latino, 2.0% Asian, 1.3% black, and 1.1% Native American.
The school extracurricular activities like choir, band, and sports which could cost or does cost extra money. Most students don’t have a problem with school extracurricular activities costing money. The school just got brand new lockers this year and even though the school was built in 1966 the school looks clean and not as old as it is. To me this means they keep up on the maintenance.
When walking through the halls and in the classroom most students are white and the way they are dressed I can tell most come from middle to upper class households’. This might mean that some students don’t understand poverty and might make fun of people who smell or don’t dress a nice as they do.
I will not tolerate any teasing in my class and if I ever hear teasing that has to do with what a student doesn’t have I will make sure to spend time in class discussing this issue. An issue with me is that it might be hard for some students to understand and some might never, but I will try my hardest and make a point how it is not okay to tease and give reasons why in a way they can understand.

Ed Tech How to use a Blog
A way I can use a blog in my future classroom is in P.E. have websites or articles where the students can go an ready about either recient sporting events, athletes, physical activity, and health. Then I will have them blog about what they read. At times I will have them blog about whatever they want but other times I will have them blog about a signed questions.
I can also do this in Science by having them go to websites or having them read article and blogging about them but I can also have it as a way the students can communicate together about assignments and what they did in class that day.

Community
Community of Keizer Oregon around Whiteaker Middle School
Keizer was founded in 1843 by people who arrived on wagons. The community was named after Thomas Dove Keizur but somewhere on the land claim record the name was misspelled and that’s how it has become Keizer. In 1882 Keizer was named its own city. In 1983 the population of Keizer was 19,650 and the last recoded population in 2008 was 36,150. Whiteaker is one of two middle schools in Keizer, but it was the only middle school in Keizer till 2001. The ethnic group of Keizer is 85.5% white, 12.3% Hispanic and 2.2% other. The age distribution in Keizer is 27.4% under the age of 18, 33.7% is median age, and 12.4% is older than 65.
The neighborhood surrounding the school was mostly built in the 70’s and 80’s. It is a mostly white community. Claggett Creek middle school community is more diverse then Whiteaker middle school community. When going on a walk in the community there are people walking dogs, going on runs/walks and neighbors outside talking to each other. It has a feeling of a safe community where kids still play outside. I see kids riding bikes and skateboarding down the sidewalks. Since the community is mostly white this will reflect the student population at Whiteaker to be mostly white. That means I need to pay close attention and make sure that the people of different ethnic groups feels like they fit in and is part of the community. I would say the community around Whiteaker middle school is middle class. Since they are coming from a middle class I might assume the basic needs of the students are getting met. However, I will still keep my eyes open and not disregard anything because of what I think is.
